Most of the inhabitants of McLean Hamlet are professionals of one sort or another. They usually work in business, government, medicine, the academic world, or non-profit American and international organizations. They come in all ages. A growing number are the young folks who ride those yellow buses to Fairfax County's schools; many other Hamlet residents are retirees. A substantial number are in the United States as staff members of foreign embassies or of such international bodies as the World Bank.
