Once each year, McLean Hamlet residents hold yard sales of surplus belongings. The organizers of this neighborhood-wide effort arrange for advance publicity, prepare signs and maps showing locations of individual yard sales, and distribute these to the bargain-hunters who flock on that day to the Hamlet.

Participating households pay an entry fee of $10 to defray such expenses as signs, ads and maps.
